David The Filmmaker

I would like you all to meet my son, David, who is an up and coming filmmaker.  At the present time he is in California attending the Art Institute of Los Angeles.  Since David was 13 years old, he had a fascination with cameras.  My husband gave him our old camcorder to play around with and that was the start of a very intense love affair with film and video making.

David has won the Emerging Filmmakers Series of competition that is held in Monmouth County.  The winners have their film shown on the big screen of the famous Count Basie Theater.  This is a part of the Red Bank Film Festival which is held in the fall in Red Bank New Jersey. The very first year it was held, David won the event and he was only a sophomore in high school.  His first place prize was a week of training provided by The New York Film Academy where he got to learn right on the lots of the Hollywood Studios in California.

The next year, he was nominated by the fine arts teacher at his high school for induction to The Governor’s School of the Arts and out of over 2,000 nominees, was selected to represent Monmouth County Film Students.  He spent an entire summer there and learned a lot about the art of filming, screenwriting, sound, lighting and a lot of other things that take place on an actual movie set.  He and the other students there produced quite a few good short films. On the Set

Continuing with his love of filming and pictures, David tried attending college for film studies, but found the curriculum lacking in stimulation and subject matter, because what they were teaching, he had already learned at the Governor’s school  and in California at the New York Film Academy’s camp or though his stints on some movie sets that he had taken part of.

So he finally left New Jersey for the Movie Capital of the World, Hollywood,  where he is following his dream of becoming of film maker.   What better place to learn.

David has quite a repertoire of film projects that he has produced.   I will include a few of his projects on this page. One of the video’s he made for a school project is below.

Macbeth: The Trial of Macbeth by David Dewaik and Ryan Lemanski
