HUSBAND BANNED FROM TARGET

After I retired, my wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips to Target. Unfortunately, like most men, I found shopping boring and preferred to get in and get out. Equally unfortunate, my wife is like most women – she loves to browse. Yesterday my dear wife received the following letter from our local Target.

Dear Mrs. Samsel,

Over the past six months, your husband has caused quite a commotion in our store.. We cannot tolerate this behavior and have been forced to ban both of you from the store. Our complaints against your husband, Mr. Samsel, are listed below and are documented by our video surveillance cameras.

1. June 15: Took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in other people’s carts when they weren’t looking.

2. July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in House wares to go off at 5-minute intervals.

3. July 7: He made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the women’s restroom.

4. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice, ‘Code 3 in House wares. Get on it right away’. This caused the employee to leave her assigned station and receive a reprimand from her Supervisor that in turn resulted with a union grievance, causing management to lose time and costing the company money.

5. August 4: Went to the Service Desk and tried to put a bag of M&Ms on layaway.

6. August 14: Moved a ‘CAUTION – WET FLOOR’ sign to a carpeted area.

7. August 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told the children shoppers he would invite them in if they would bring pillows and blankets from the bedding department to which twenty children obliged.

8. August 23: When a clerk asked if they could help him he began crying and screamed, ‘Why can’t you people just leave me alone?’ EMTs were called..

9. September 4: Looked right into the security camera and used it as a mirror while he picked his nose.

10. September 10: While handling guns in the hunting department, he asked the clerk where the antidepressants were.

11. October 3: Darted around the store suspiciously while loudly humming the ‘Mission Impossible’ theme.

12. October 6: In the auto department, he practiced his ‘Madonna look’ by using different sizes of funnels.

13. October 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, yelled ‘PICK ME! PICK ME!’

14. October 21: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumed a fetal position and screamed ‘OH NO! IT’S THOSE VOICES AGAIN!’

And last, but not least:

15. October 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile, and then yelled very loudly, ‘Hey! There’s no toilet paper in here.’ One of the clerks passed out.

Back from the Great Beyond LOL

Sorry I’ve been missing in action for a while, life just got too busy and couldn’t find time. But I’m back.

It is now May 2013 (What?!)

A recent blog post I received today has caught my attention. It is regarding the ridiculous policy of Abercrombie & Fitch. I just felt like I had to comment so here goes.

The Real Problem with Abercrombie & Fitch—How Jeffries’ Message Hurts Us ALL:

Hi there. Normally I would just ignore this whole situation, as it is not really something I care about. I don’t follow fashions or trends and don’t know a designer from a garbage bag maker. But this one really irritates me.

In light of what is going on with our young girls these days, starving themselves to look like the skeletons who model the clothes for these stores, making them selves sick and self loathing, it just makes me want to barf all over them.

There are a lot of beautiful girls out there, who even in their teens, are considered “plump” but in reality are a normal size, but they are gorgeous, energetic, friendly, personable and beautiful young girls, who you know, will grow up to be beautiful and caring young women. Just because their bones aren’t sticking out all over, doesn’t mean they are not beautiful. They don’t need A&F to make them feel good. They know how to do it all by themselves, because they know, deep inside, that it’s not the clothes they wear or the fashions they follow. It’s what’s inside them that counts.

Let A&F target their “beautiful people” because they are not the people that count in this world. The real beautiful people will also be offended by A&F’s policy and by the way, do they not realize that by thinking so small, they are losing out on a larger scale of customers?

Who decided that being a size 00 is beautiful? A&F? I think beauty comes in many shapes and sizes and this stupid chain doesn’t even realize that they are missing out on a lot of business. But, so be it. If they want to be small minded, then leave them to it. The post by an A&F spokesperson, admits that they are uncreative and lacking in skills. So who wants to shop at a place like that. Maybe they should all go back to school as she states they would need to. But in stead of fashion, they should study real life and humanity.

In any case, A&F’s people need to get a life and concentrate of what really makes the world go round, making their customers happy and satisfied. I don’t think this is way to do it. Besides there are more important things in the world to concentrate on.

Even if I was a “fashion minded person” I would not want to be an A&F person. Have you seen their ads? They all look like they’ve been cloned. Where is the individuality, the diversity, the wonder of each person being themselves. Sorry but these people are just bad for us.

A Soldier’s Deck of Cards

As the Christmas Holiday Season draws near, we sometimes forget the reason for this blessed celebration. While we enjoy the festivities, shopping, parties, and gifts at this special time, we must also remember that we are celebrating the birth of Our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ and in His spirit, remember those who are fighting for the freedoms we enjoy.

The following video was recently posted by someone on Facebook and I thought it so appropriate for this special time. In watching the video and being amazed by it, remember our soldiers who are away from their families and loved ones and only have God for their companion at this time of year.

Can you believe that the year is almost over? Whew! Where did the time go? Wasn’t it just a few weeks ago we were celebrating the New Year of 2012? And now it’s almost time for the next one to come in.

Hi everyone, didn’t realize that I haven’t posted in almost two months now.

I apologize for that. It’s been a very hectic time for me I’ve been kind of busy. My dad had been very sick for the past three months, in and out of the hospital, then along came Hurricane Sandy and threw us for a loop. To top it off, my computer crashed, big time. So now it’s time to get back on track as things slowly start to get back to normal.

Hope everyone had a wonder and very Happy Thanksgiving.

And now, the real madness begins as we enter the ever stressful albeit, fun “Holiday Season”.

For most us this time of year can be a lot of fun. We look forward to being with family and friends and celebrating the blessings of the season. Yes it can be stressful, if you let it. So I say, just enjoy it and don’t worry about the little things.

The holidays are all about family. At least in my book. It’s not about the gifts we receive. It’s about being together with the people you love and spend quality time. It’s about giving thanks for what we have and helping those who don’t. It’s about kindness, tolerance, and acceptance. It means, being the best person you know how to be and thanking God for everything he has given us.

Here’s hoping everyone has a great time in getting ready for your holiday celebrations, whatever they may be.

Child’s Perspective on Retirement

A teacher asked her young pupils how they spent their vacation. One child wrote the following:

“We always used to spend the holidays with Grandma and Grandpa. They used to live here in a big brick house, but Grandpa got retarded and they moved to Florida and now they live in a place with a lot of other retarded people.

“They live in a tin box and have rocks painted green to look like grass. They ride around on big tricycles and wear nametags because they don’t know who they are anymore. They go to a building called a wrecked center, but they must have got it fixed, because it is all right now.

“They play games and do exercises there, but they don’t do them very well. There is a swimming pool, too, but they all jump up and down in it with their hats on. I guess they don’t know how to swim.

“At their gate, there is a dollhouse with a little old man sitting in it. He watches all day so nobody can escape. Sometimes they sneak out. Then they go cruising in their golf carts.

“My Grandma used to bake cookies and stuff, but I guess she forgot how. Nobody there cooks, they just eat out. And they eat the same thing every night: Early Birds. Some of the people can’t get past the man in the dollhouse to go out. So the ones who do get out bring food back to the wrecked center and call it potluck.

“My Grandma says Grandpa worked all his life to earn his retardment and says I should work hard so I can be retarded some day, too. When I earn my retardment I want to be the man in the doll house. Then I will let people out so they can visit their grandchildren.”

Election Time is Near

With the election only a few weeks away, it is important to understand the direction our country seems to be heading.

Now, I’m not a politician and I don’t like the way this game is played these days. In my mind it really is a game and it sucks.

I remember bits and pieces from campaigns when I was a young girl. What I do remember is the candidates telling Americans what they will do when elected to make our lives better. No recollection of the mud slinging, name calling, ripping up the other guys character , and all the other garbage you hear on TV these days.

In any case, someone had emailed me the following information and I’m not sure if the stats are all correct or not, but it is definitley something to think about so I thought I would share it with everyone.

SCARY OBITUARY

In 1887 Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior: “A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until

St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning

the last Presidential election:

Number of States won by:            Obama: 19                McCain: 29
Square miles of land won by:       Obama: 580,000        McCain: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by:    Obama: 127 million McCain: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:

Obama: 13.2 McCain: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: “In aggregate, the map of the territory McCain won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country.

Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low income tenements and living off various forms of government welfare…”

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the “complacency and apathy” phase of Professor Tyler’s definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation’s population already having reached the “governmental dependency” phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegal’s – and they vote – then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

New York Mayor or Nutritionist?

New York City’s Mayor? or City Nutritionist???

I just heard on the evening news that New York City’s Mayor, Michael Bloomberg is at it again. Now he is demanding that Hospitals around the city change their menus to more healthy alternatives. What Gives?????

Although I do agree with him that if you should be able to get healthy foods anywhere in the city, it should of course, be at the hospital.

However, wasn’t he elected to be the Mayor of the City? When did he get the job as the Citywide Nutritionist.

I don’t think that it is the job of a mayor to tell people what they should eat, drink of consume no matter where they are. Doesn’t he have more important things to take care of in the city? For instance, he should be working on fixing the many really bad streets throughout Manhattan. Maybe he should try to stop the escalating costs of the Port Authority’s tolls on bridges and tunnels. I mean people can’t afford to pay those exorbitant prices and they need to use the facilities to get to and from work. Between the cost of gas and tolls, why bother going to work? It’s all going to those fees any way.

A city as big as New York has a lot more problems, and more important things to worry about, than it’s citizens nutrition.

Nothing against Mayor Bloomberg, I like the guy, but come on Mayor. Do your job and leave the nutrition to those whose job it is to watch.

REMEMBERING 911

We must never forget that horrible day on September 11, 2001, lest we lower our guard against those who hate us, envy us, and want to destroy us.

I can still remember it like it was yesterday. I was getting ready to leave for my office in Jersey City when my husband called me and asked if I had heard anything on the radio about a plane hitting the Trade Center. I hadn’t heard anything so I left to head out to the office. I was on the Garden State Parkway when my husband called me again and said to turn back. The authorities were diverting everyone away from the city (Jersey City is across the Hudson River from the World Trade Center in Downtown New York), and the roads were being blocked off so there was no access to the city area.

When I got home, I turned on the news to a shocking scene. The reports were saying that it may have been an accident, because they actually didn’t know what happened yet. But when I saw the gaping hole in the building and the heavy smoke, I knew it was no accident. Watching in amazement and shock, and then to my horror, the second plane hit. There was no doubt in my mind that this was an act of terror.

Having worked at the World Trade Center for ten years and having given birth to my three sons while working there, this was shocking to me. It was like a close friend one had been attacked. Working at the World Trade Center was one of my favorite jobs and the last one I had before taking time to raise my then young boys.

I walked across the street to my neighbor’s house to see if she was OK, knowing that her husband worked in the building next door. She was in a panic as she couldn’t get in touch with him. I stayed with her hoping and praying that her husband would be alright. We watched the coverage and saw the towers come down. I couldn’t hold back the tears, it was so tragic. All I could think of is that there were many people who I am sure couldn’t possibly have gotten out. Luckily my friend’s husband called her a couple of hours later. He was alright, understandably shaken, but he would be home as soon as he could.

It was a terrifying time for all of us, especially those of us who live near the attack. I cannot even imagine the suffering of those who lost loved ones. I pray everyday that God will help ease their pain.

To those who lost loved ones, our prayers are with you. We shall never forget!

Labor Day Weekend — A Beginning or an End?

HAPPY LABOR DAY WEEKEND TO ALL!

Labor Day Weekend marks the official end of the Summer Season and it is the start of the school year for most children around the country. So I guess you can say it is both a beginning and an end.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day Weekend. Now it’s time to get busy!

Many children are about to embark on a new year’s adventure of learning, discovery, and creativity, joy, fears, frustration and lots of other experiences.

For some it means a new school, like a new middle school or junior high, some are beginning high school and some college. Some kids may be facing a lot of apprehension because they moved to a new area or town.

In any case, it is the beginning of a new adventure of meeting new friends, growing, and coping with life’s ups and downs. For some it is a great beginning because they will start a brand new era in their lives and others it can mean the end of old friendships, familiar surroundings.

For parents, it’s the end –the end of worrying about what their kids are doing at home while mom and dad are at work. Are they keeping busy, are they staying out of trouble, are they safe, etc., etc. Now parents know their kids will be busy in school and then doing homework at home, so they can worry a bit less.

Have a wonderful experience in learning and growing!

London 2012 – XXX Olympic Games

Congratulations to all of the athletes who participated in these Olympic Games and thank you for allowing us a glimpse of what it’s like to be a champion.

Win, place or show, you are still our heroes and represent all that is good an honorable in the world today. You showed us that hard work, dedication, persistence and sacrifice is the right way to achieve your goals. You have taught us that we can live together as friends, despite our cultural differences and language barriers. You give us hope that one day we can all live in peace.

You allowed us to share in your joy and triumphs, as well as your sorrows when you missed your mark. Your efforts are not for nothing. The whole world is proud of your efforts. We salute you and thank you for encouraging the next generation of young people to follow in your footsteps.

In my mind, you all deserve a gold medal. You are all winners!
